Where We Work

Brazil

INMED Brasil LogoINMED has worked in Brazil for 15 years, beginning with our flagship Healthy Children, Healthy Futures program, and established INMED Brasil, a fully registered Brazilian NGO, in 1994.

The Healthy Children, Healthy Futures program promotes children's healthy growth and development through an integrated program of:

  • Treatment: Treating children for intestinal parasitic infection and nutritional deficiencies
  • Education: Teaching children about good nutrition, preventive health habits, and hygiene and sanitation measures that help prevent disease
  • Action: Empowering children through interactive, participatory activities to put the lessons they have learned into action to improve the health and quality of life of their families and communities
Brazil Communities
Since its inception, INMED has worked in 28 communities in 10 states in Brazil. Currently, INMED and its partners work in 18 communities in eight states, as shown in the map above.

The adaptable Healthy Children, Healthy Futures program model provides a platform for mobilizing communities to address a wide range of concerns, including family health and hygiene, nutrition, food security, environmental health, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.

To date, we have reached more than 1 million children, trained more than 15,000 teachers, cafeteria workers and community health workers, and led a process of positive change that has engaged more than 2.5 million family and community members across Brazil.
