In recognition of the enormous needs of HIV-affected children, INMED Partnerships for Children has joined forces with a group of organizations to use its combined skills to address this far-reaching problem. The consortium, Our Children, Our Future, has developed a holistic model for addressing the HIV/AIDS pandemic through integrated health, nutrition, water and sanitation, education, and livelihoods interventions.
Our Children, Our Future endeavors to save current and future generations of children from the pandemic and to develop opportunities to improve their futures as thriving world citizens. The diverse experience and expertise of its partners are a fundamental strength of Our Children, Our Future. Some partners provide resources such as HIV test kits, medicines, water systems, housing, and books while others work directly with communities, schools, clinics, and local public and private entities. Consortium members include INMED, International Relief and Development (IRD), Joint Aid Management (JAM), MedPharm, Global e-Med, NOAH Water Systems, and Scholastic, Inc.
Our Children, Our Future integrates need-based program components into a joint management structure for maximum efficiency and optimal outcomes. Its specific objectives are:
The consortium has chosen Mozambique to pilot Our Children, Our Future because of the juxtaposition of need, growth, and opportunity. Within Mozambique’s framework of need, growth, and opportunity, Our Children, Our Future will help HIV-affected children through improved healthcare, enhanced nutrition, access to basic education, opportunities for vocational and job skills training, and hope for the future.
