Sterling, VA, April 26, 2007— In an event today hosted by the Bob Marley Foundation at the Marley Estate in Kingston, Jamaica, INMED Partnerships for Children, a Sterling, VA-based international non-profit organization, and the Gibson Foundation announced the donation of 25 guitars for children in Jamaica. This event officially launched INMED’s Gibson IAMusic program to promote self-esteem and develop opportunities for at-risk youth.
INMED and the Gibson Foundation, with partners including the Bob Marley Foundation, local Rotary Clubs and the Organization of American States, are distributing these guitars to schools that have an established music program and are in need of instruments. Two of the schools in the program are located in Trenchtown, where reggae music legend Bob Marley grew up. An Epiphone Gibson guitar, a model of one used by Marley, was presented today at the Marley Museum in Kingston.
The Gibson Foundation's support of INMED’s IAMusic programs also includes Trinidad and Tobago, South Los Angeles and Brazil. "INMED provides opportunities and experiences that would not otherwise exist. It instills a positive and life-long impact that will help children living in extremely difficult situations develop into healthy, productive adults," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar.
