Immunization Outreach
Location: Compton, California and Loudoun County, Virginia
More than a million children in the United States are not adequately immunized, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Through INMED’s MotherNet perinatal home visiting programs in Compton, California and Loudoun County, Virginia, children are closely monitored to ensure that they remain up-to-date on all recommended immunizations.
In the most recently completed program year, 100% of children in Compton and 95% of children in Loudoun were fully immunized as age-appropriate—a remarkable achievement compared to overall immunization rates in both areas.
In addition, in Compton and the surrounding communities of South Los Angeles County, INMED was a member of the African-American Immunization Collaborative Project, an initiative funded by the California Department of Health Services. This program worked to increase poor immunization rates among African-American children under age 3 in several medically underserved zip code areas through a combination of community outreach, education and case management.
